Visual Aid Technology
in the Classroom
Visual
technology is a great support for teaching students in the classroom. I feel
that with the increasing use of technology today, teachers need to be prepared
and up to date on the latest educational tools for their students. Teachers
will be able to provide students with the opportunities to interact with
computer software, explore on their own how to perform a task, or acquire
information. When students can “see” and then apply information for themselves,
then typically they can retain that information better than from direct
instruction alone. Student also benefit from other visual aids like calculators,
graphs, and math charts. These items work well for students who have learning difficulties.
They help the students to be able to apply concepts and complete assignments. I
will be integrating various types of technology into my lessons as applicable.
Technological
advances are continually and exponentially increasing in both sheer numbers as
well in new uses in and out of the classroom. As a member of the teaching
community, I have seen first-hand that student use (and abuse) of technology in
many forms is more prevalent in their everyday communication and gathering of
information. In order for students to become more successful in school, they
need the use of visual technology. Interactive websites such as tinker tots
guide students by allowing them to input information and discovering answers
for themselves. Story building websites allow students to see and put together
their own stories. Children learn by seeing and doing. Websites that allow
students to create stories with the use of video may also help those who have
learning disabilities or they may inspire students who do not. These programs
are for everyone which promotes inclusion for all students. The use of visual
technology has greatly impacted learning for students.
I agree with you technology is taking over everything in my opinion. I work in the Desoto school district and see the many changes that are taking place with technology, we have promethean boards instead of chalk or white boards, There are so many other visual aids such as the calculator like you stated it does the work for you just punch in the number and it will graph itself. Visual technology is great and will help the students understand and be able to think outside the box more
